Introducing PAUSE

In my new department, we are being taught to be more professional in meetings. Especially since my new group is in daily meetings with VPs, AVPs and Supervisors. Recently, we have learned to not stop people from talk by saying pause. Yes, love Tabitha to death because this moment was funny to me. Due to this newly learned lesson, I decided to introduce a new post to by blog called pause. All pause post will be those things, situations and conversations that I can't believed happened.  1st pause of the month is the reason Americans are so fat.

Life and Times: Another Road Trip

The last few months a lot of changes have taken place in my life. Some by force and some by choice but either way all of the changes turned out to be good. Out with the old in with the new, enjoying and appreciating the reliable. Now that I'm used to my life changes, schedule it's time to truly relax and enjoy it.  I work hard, play hard and now I need to relax just as hard. What better way to do that than a trip to the beach.

Haven't really been to the beach much this summer and I couldn't let this season go away with out putting my toes in the sand. A friend and I decided to go to Yorktown beach. Family friendly, don't have to drive around for hours looking for parking and cute restaurants.

Our first day was rained out but we didn't let that stop us. All that meant was it was time to do a little site seeing.

Colonial National Historical Park. Not really my thing but with a trolley ride and a animated story, about what really happen to make Lord Cornwallis surrender at Yorktown in Oct of 1781, I was hooked. Nothing like a good story to get your spirits up.

Once we saw all there was to see of Yorktown we headed to Newport News.

The rain stopped when the sun went down. Beautiful Night. That's all the details I'm willing to share :)

Can't leave the beach without actually going to the beach, right.

:) He wouldn't let me leave before I put my feet in the water.
And yes he is wearing jeans...long story, another time.

Someone doesn't like to take pictures.

Life and Times: Stages

As some of the greatest people I know are getting engaged, married and having kids (number 1 or 2) it has me thinking about the different stages we are in life. The things learned and experiences had. No, I’m not in that engaged, married, or kids phase. Yet I couldn’t be happier for the company I keep that are in those phases. To see that at any moment your life can change tremendously, regardless of your plans. Most of the time you have no choice but to go with the flow, no matter how overwhelming it may be. Just yesterday, we were all kids living it up and trying to experience the most of life. Trying not to have any real responsibilities, throwing caution to the wind. Now we are off into new adventures and though we are not all in the same place anymore, these are still adventures we can have together. I’m still single and I’m excited about my 30th birthday present to myself (hopefully a trip to Europe). Buying my first house! While my girlfriends in relationships are getting married and having kids. Each stage had to be experienced in order to enjoy the other.  I think I will have a certain appreciation for marriage having experienced being single for so long as I have. I love being single! It has given me a chance to learn who I am outside of a “we”. To know what I want and need as Lovey. I learned my strengths and weaknesses, things that I couldn’t learn while being some ones daughter, sister. I had to have to time to be Lovey. I’m so grateful for this stage of life and I wouldn’t wish it away for anything. I never wanted to get lost in someone or something, so much that I would forgot who I am. You know you become a girlfriend, fiancĂ©, wife, or mother and that becomes who you are, your identifier. Now, when it’s time for me to be someone’s wife and mother I know what I can and cannot bring to the table. I know that you can never be prepared for those things. But what I have experienced in my mid to late 20s have have learned that it takes more to being someone’s wife than just a wedding or being able to be a “we” and it takes more to being a mother than carrying the baby. You have to be able to compromise and not just get what you want or give the other person what they want. You have to be a little bit less selfish and put your kids first. I’m lucky that I have seen and learn those things. Though my adventures in singleness, I have discovered who I am, given myself time to be selfish, learned to compromise and so much more. Seeing my friends go through their stages as well has taught me a lot. I wish everyone the best always and though we grow a part I pray that we always find our way back to each other. I am going to need the company I keep when I finally catch up.

No Regrets: Take a Road Trip

LOVE road trips! Good music, conversation and a sense of adventure are all you need to make a normal drive memorable. A year ago I went to see Rihanna in concert in Baltimore; I was basically in and out in one night. I enjoyed the city so much in those few hours. I felt like I was missing something by not giving it more of my time. In March a friend and I decided to take a trip there for the weekend. It was so much fun! Could I fit everything I wanted to do in one weekend, No. Did I try, Yes!

I found a groupon to the Brookeshire Suites, 120 E Lombard Street, Baltimore MD 21202.

Which was a great deal they had valet parking, breakfast was included and a gym (that we didn’t wake up in time to go to) the groupon deal also included $25 toward dinner at a restaurant called Supano’s Steakhouse. It was a nice hole in the wall Italian place, food was wonderful. I would definitely go there again.

Other than dinner we spent most of the day getting lost, but still having fun. Of course a trip wouldn’t be complete without an argument or two but it made for a good story and a great adventure. There was one point that I really felt like I was in the Wire but I had a good co-pilot so I was in safe hands. Getting lost did make us miss out on some things. Such as the Baltimore harbor cruises (we were late missed the boat) and the Baltimore Zoo, yep by the time we found it the zoo was closed. Even though we missed out on those places we still found time to shop at the Harbor place and the gallery, pretend we were kids and explore the Maryland Science Center and the best part of the trip was the National Great Blacks in Wax Museum. After all of that down time was needed and that was not an issue. The hotel room was nice and a good place to relax and slow things down a bit. All in all the road trip was a success! Now that it's complete, I’m looking forward to more plus a unforgettable train journey from Washington DC to New York. Fun times still ahead.
